Privacy Policy

EV Copilot ("the app", "we", "us") is an electric-vehicle trip-planning app operated by JuppIt Studios LLP, India. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and your choices. We keep it plain because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

Short version: we collect your location (to plan and follow routes), your account details (if you sign in), and your vehicle and trip preferences. We send location and search text to the mapping and charging-data providers needed to answer your request. We do not sell your data.

1. Information we collect

Location

With your permission, we use your device's location to set the starting point of a trip, find chargers and places near you, and — while a trip is running — to track progress along the route and alert you as charging stops approach. Location is used while the app is in use and, during an active trip, by a foreground service so alerts still work with the screen off. We do not track your location when you are not planning or driving a trip.

Account information

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo through Firebase Authentication. This is used to identify you, save your preferences, and sync them across your devices. You can use much of the app without signing in.

Trip and vehicle preferences

Your vehicle, charge margins, preferred networks, meal preferences and similar settings are stored so plans are personalised to you.

Search and trip inputs

Destinations you type or pick, and the routes you plan, are processed to return results and are cached (in a de-identified, location-keyed form) to speed up and reduce the cost of repeat lookups.

Diagnostic and device data

To keep the service secure and working, we use Firebase App Check (a token proving the request came from a genuine build of the app) and may collect basic crash and usage diagnostics.

2. How we use your information

To plan routes with charging stops and estimate arrival battery.
To find chargers, live availability where reported, and nearby restaurants.
To follow your trip and send charging alerts.
To hand navigation to Google Maps when you choose to.
To save and sync your preferences (when signed in).
To secure the service, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

3. Third-party services we share data with

To deliver the app's features, some requests are processed by these providers, subject to their own privacy policies:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, App Check, Hosting) — accounts, preferences, and app integrity. Firebase privacy.
TomTom — routing and charging-station data; route coordinates and search text are sent to compute plans. TomTom privacy.
Google Maps Platform — place search and, when you choose, turn-by-turn navigation in the Google Maps app. Google privacy.
Mapbox — map rendering on the phone. Mapbox privacy.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the service.

4. Data retention and deletion

Preferences and account data are kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data from within the app, or by emailing us (see Contact); we will action deletion requests within a reasonable period. Cached, de-identified corridor data expires automatically.

5. Your choices and rights

Grant or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings (some features will not work without it).
Use the app without signing in for most features.
Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

Where the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) or other applicable law grants you rights over your personal data, we honour them.

6. Children

EV Copilot is not directed to children and is intended for licensed drivers. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including transport encryption and app-integrity checks — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
